Many traditions mark our year and bring us together in worship, celebration, fellowship and service.

  • Early September: Rally Day and our Church Picnic celebrate our return to regular Sunday School classes and promotions to new grade levels.
  • October: Our Friendship Players present their annual dinner theater production in Friendship Center.
  • November: Our annual Bazaar rings in the holiday season with angel crafts, home-baked foods, homemade candy, and special activities for children.  We provide Thanksgiving turkeys and food to many local families.
  • December:  Santa visits children at an early December breakfast.  We care for many families with gifts and food.  Our Youth Group sings Christmas carols to special friends of FUMC.  We light Advent candles as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s birth at Christmas, with our Choir’s annual Cantata, in worship at candlelight Christmas Eve services and with our Birthday Party for Jesus.
  • March:  Our Youth attend Impact, a Christian Youth Conference, in Ocean City.
  • Spring:  Forty days of Lent lead us to celebrate the risen Christ at Easter. The Choir asks congregants to join in singing Handel’s "Messiah".  Local children receive Easter baskets.
  • May:  We share our blessings as we fill school bags with school supplies for children in Afghanistan.
  • June-July: Youth and adults travel to Appalachia to serve, work and build relationships.
  • July: Vacation Bible School is a week-long opportunity in July for children, youth and adults to learn about God while having fun outdoors.
  • August: Our Backpack Program provides school supplies for local children in need.
