Blood Drives
- FUMC holds 3 Blood Drives a year. Visit www.givelife.org for information on eligibility requirements or questions regarding the donation process.
- Volunteer opportunities: Donate blood, help with the recruitment of donors or helping the day of the blood drive.
Adopt-a-Family Programs
- FUMC supports four Adopt-a-family Programs a year: Easter, Backpack, Thanksgiving and Christmas. These programs support families from ARC (www.arcncr.org), Mason Dixon Community Services (www.mason-dixon.org) and local families in need.
- Volunteer opportunities: Help solicit donations of items or drivers from the congregation, sort and prepare donations, deliver items to families or organizations.
- Easter - Provide Easter baskets and food to local families.
- Backpack - Provide backpacks to local families prior to the start of school.
- Thanksgiving - Provide bags of food and Turkeys to local families.
- Christmas - Provide Christmas gifts and bags of food to local families.
Sharing Table
- The Sharing Table is the local soup kitchen that FUMC supports. FUMC serves at the Sharing Table 3 times a year. You can visit www.thesharingtable.org to find out more information about this organization.
- Volunteer opportunities: Help solicit servers or donations of food, serve or donate food.
FCCAU Welcome One Emergency Shelter and Welcome One Fellowship Center
- Faith Communities and Civic Agencies United (FCCAU) operates an Emergency Shelter in Riverside. FUMC helps to staff the 28-bed Emergency Shelter on certain days in conjunction with a FCCAU staff member. Information about the FCCAU can be found at www.homelessshelter.net. FUMC also makes a financial donation to FCCAU.
- Volunteer Opportunities at the Emergency Shelter: Cooks, Van Drivers and Host & Hostess.
- FCCAU also operates a Fellowship Day Center in Edgewood.
- Volunteer Opportunities at the Fellowship Center: Cooks and Servers, Drivers and volunteers to help with crafts, reading, computers and Bible studies.
Hope House
- FUMC’s parsonage, now called Hope House, is home to a family from Harford Family House. Harford Family House serves homeless families with children and helps them to become self-sufficient and productive members of society. FUMC provides Hope House to Harford Family House at a reduced rental rate to allow families to transition to self-sufficiency. Rebuilding Together
- Rebuilding Together is the nation’s leading organization bringing volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners by providing free repair services for those with the greatest need.
